Succulents

succulents

I stumbled across these little guys the other day at a local farmers market. Too cute, huh?

After yet another move this weekend, I plan to make a terrarium of sorts. Maybe find a glass pot and layer chunky rocks, some cactus soil, then these guys. I’ve been getting a bit of “pinspiration” on all the cool ways to plant them.

For a while, I didn’t understand what the big deal was with succulents. They appeared to be something all the devoted hipsters had lounging around their 1960s-inspired homes.  But, they’re pretty sturdy fellows, so I’ve heard – and the less primping I have to do to plants, the better.

And, ironically, the house my hubby and I will be renting looks like the 60s made their eternal dwelling inside. So, why not add some succulents and be that hipster couple we never were?

I was planning on waiting to buy them until I got settled after the move, but then discovered that they (supposedly) cost a lot more back home. As in, I would have paid as much for one of these succulents than I did for all four. They can just keep me company on the long drive back home!

If you feel inspired to grab a few succulents as well, I’d advise checking out the farmers market first, if you have one nearby. Also, I’d definitely suggest getting an aloe plant. They’re pretty, and the gel is useful for clumsy people like me who burn themselves while cooking!

Until next time,
